I dedicate this poem to all those who have finished their summer holidays and have to return to their routine. Also to those who, for financial reasons, have not been able to take a holiday. Day-to-day life is very tough, especially if you spend many hours on a demanding job that you probably don’t enjoy but that pays your bills. Even so, you should open the windows and air things out; there’s always a happy corner, real or imagined, waiting for us, and it's better if it’s in good company. Cheers.
I Shall Return
I shall return, perhaps with fear across my bones. The sea is vast, and the gaze of people shows no mercy for those who cannot swim. I shall return, a few corrections, slowly, with just enough strength, detached from the beloved manuscript in my hand. But I have always been but an object in that ocean, sometimes moving, sometimes still, sand, light food for jellyfish, something dissolving in the dark depths. So why fear now? Perhaps of forgetting the present, or why we do what we do. Luckily, her quick and inscrutable tongue, her language that laughs and cries with equal ease, her games so serious yet fleeting, bring me back to land.
I enjoyed the poem Rafa and I wish you a happy return from your summer.
Great ending.
